The Best Power Options for Windows 7 Users

Windows 7, the latest operating system released by information technology (IT) expert Microsoft Corp., has lots of features that are centered for the full usability of the users. One of the features improved and added in the Windows 7 operating system is the power management option.
Power management is suitable for laptops and notebooks users. This option allows them to properly manage the power of their batteries. Having an appropriate management will make the laptop or notebook batteries last longer.

Factors Affecting the Consumption and Longevity of Power
There are a lot of reasons that affect the longevity of laptop and notebook power. Here are few of those reasons.

A. Too many programs running – if a lot of applications are being accessed by the user simultaneously, the processor and RAM (Random Access Memory) will process the request longer. Longer processing means more consumption of the power. In other words, the more programs are accessed at the same time, the more the CPU and RAM consume power from the laptop or notebook.

B. Age of the battery – as time goes by, the power of the battery slows down.

C. Power-hungry DVD playback – the DVD ROM also consumes a lot of energy.

Power Options in Windows 7
Windows 7 provides laptop and notebook users more power plans compared to Windows XP. A power plan saves the settings of the system and hardware which are responsible on how the laptop or notebook utilizes the battery.

Windows 7 users can create their own power plans. Creating power plans will help them manage the power consumption of their Windows 7-installed devices. With these, they can maximize the performance of their laptop without draining too much power. Thus, laptop or notebook batteries will last longer.
Here are the default power plans installed in a Windows 7 laptop or notebook:

Power Saver – this will reduce brightness of the screen and the performance of the system so that power will be saved. This power plan is helpful for notebook or laptop users who are charging their devices once.

Balanced – this power option provides full performance and saves energy when the users are not using it. According to Microsoft Corp. , this is the best power plan for all types of users.

High Performance – screen brightness is maximized under this option. Moreover, this power option also increases the performance of the computer in some considerations. Laptop users cannot see the High Performance power option at the battery meter. However, they can access it by clicking the Start button at the Windows task bar. After the Start button is clicked, access the Control Panel. Type in the keyword power options at the search bar. Select the Power Options and under the Select a power plan, click Show additional plans. Once you clicked it, choose High Performance.

How to Choose Power Plans?
Windows 7 users can select the appropriate power plan for them in several steps. Click the battery icon in the task bar. After clicking the battery icon, choose the best power plan that suits your needs. X`

Deletion of Power Plans
Laptop users can only remove the power plans they have created. The default plans developed by Microsoft Corp. such as Balanced, Power Saver, and High Performance, will not be deleted.
